Submissions


Please read the magazine before submission to make sure we are the right space for your writing and your writing is right for us, to save time and energy all around!

BRAND is looking for contemporary, lucid, precise writing. We are not publishing genre fiction e.g. romance, fantasy, historical or science fiction; pastoral poems or conventional plays.

BRAND is published twice a year. We focus on the short form


(no extracts please)


and are looking for writing that takes risks; has a strong voice; is engaged and challenging. We welcome international work and translations. We publish:

Send only one item per genre for stories, plays, creative non-fiction but up to three pieces of micro fiction, poems and artwork. Please make sure your name, e-mail and phone number are on every page. For house style you can refer to the current edition of BRAND. Please send your submissions (four copies of each poem; three of each play; two of each story/creative non-fiction) to:

Summer issue deadline: end of March
Winter issue deadline: end of September

We can currently only offer two free copies of the magazine as payment but are in the process of negotiating a small fee.

Note: We are only publishing work that has not been published before in the British Isles.

If you don’t hear from us three months after the deadline, you can assume your work has not been selected on this occasion.
